Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a FREE “Cooking Well with Diabetes” series of classes at the Angleton Public Library
Classes will be held on September 20th and 27th, October 4th and 11th
The goal of the program is to help those living with diabetes, family members, or those just wanting to learn, how to make changes to the foods we eat and how they are prepared. The four-lesson series examines carbohydrates, meal planning, and reducing fat and sodium while still maintaining flavorful dishes.
This series of classes looks to add participation to the usual presentation styles.
Participants will be cooking and tasting different recipes. “This isn’t just a sit and learn class, continues Shana Kutac. “We will be chopping and sautéing and heating up that oven”.
This program has been a part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Cooking Well Suite of Programs for over 15 years and is always a crowd pleaser. Shana Kutac, continues “People that come to our Cooking Well classes are really excited about how easy home cooking can be and when they know they are cooking something balanced and healthy, they are motivated to try these recipes at home”.
The “Cooking Well for Diabetes” program is part of the Healthy Texas Initiative from the Texas A&M System that aims to prevent and manage chronic diseases like diabetes.
